Glenrose Courage Gala 2018

2018 Courage Gala raises $715,000 in support of

patient care at the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital

Over 750 guests gathered at the Shaw Conference Centre on April 13th for the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation’s 2018 Courage Gala, presented by UNITE HERE Local 47. This year’s theme was “Wear Your Courage,” where guests stepped into the lives of Glenrose Hospital patients and experienced their rehabilitation journeys through the use of wearable art. The evening was a huge success, raising $715,000 (gross) in support of the Glenrose Foundation.

Guests enjoyed an exclusive five-course meal, cocktails, wearable art pieces, and live entertainment from Samba Edmonton, Firefly Theatre & Circus and Uptown 780. The evening highlighted the rehabilitation journeys of eight individuals impacted by the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital, including the story of Richard and Heather Rumak whose lives were changed completely following Richard’s cycling accident.

“The Glenrose Foundation is grateful for our friends and supporters who joined together for an evening of celebration. We appreciate the support of more than 150 sponsors, donors and volunteers. Because of them, the Foundation will be able to fund priority needs at the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital,” says Wendy Dugas, President and CEO of the Foundation.

Funds raised during the “Circle of Courage” portion of the evening will fund a new 3D printer at the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital, which will print lower extremity prosthetics to support patients who’ve experienced the loss of a leg. The Hospital will be the first in Canada to have this type of 3D printer and specialists at the Hospital will be able to produce prosthetics much faster, providing patients with improved wait times and the added comfort of a better fitting prosthetic.

The Courage Gala is the largest annual fundraiser in support of the Glenrose Foundation. Since 2004, the Courage Gala and its preceding events have raised over $5 million (gross) in support of patients and their families at the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital.
